Empowered to Connect Conference
Pathway Family Services (A local Faith-Based Foster Family Agency) presents a FREE TO ATTEND Video Conference called Empowered to Connect on April 26-27 (the Friday and Saturday after Easter) at First Baptist Church (2970 Santa Maria Way), in Santa Maria.
This challenging, interesting and potentially life-changing, training event is for anyone who would like to grow in the skills necessary to make a trust-based connection with children in their life, especially children who have experienced trauma. This includes everyone who has children, works with children or wants to work with children: resource (foster) & adoptive parents, social workers, therapists, CASA volunteers, pastors, parents, and grandparents.
This 2-day conference, (9-5:00 each day), presents Trust-Based Relational Intervention® methods from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University, to help bring attachment and connection in families.
This is an academic, researched-based program that has been proven through empirical research to be successful in helping traumatized children. Trust-Based Relational Intervention® has recently been adopted as the method of choice for use in the Juvenile Justice System in the State of Texas. It was developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis (d. 2016) and Dr. David Cross. The video conference event is presented by Show Hope, a foundation started by Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman. Because we will need to have materials ready and childcare set up, we do need all who are planning to attend to R.S.V.P. , as soon as possible, to Sally at the Pathway Family Services office. (805-739-1111)
