SLO Women in Film and Television Chapter Kick off
Join us for the inaugural San Luis Obispo Women in Film and Television (WIFT) Chapter Meet Up at Tolosa Winery's beautiful outdoor tasting garden on Sunday, August 7th at 3:00 PM. The meet up is open to the community and we encourage anyone with interest in the organization to attend.
The San Luis Obispo Chapter joins a network of WIFT organizations across the United States and California, including Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, and the San Francisco Bay Area. WIFT organizations are registered non-profits designed, "to promote the positive images of women in all media, empowering their members to achieve their highest professional/creative potential, and help create more job opportunities throughout the State of the United States" WIFT US About Us (https://wiftus.org/about-us/)
The San Luis Obispo Chapter will also be home to local student chapters, such as the CalPoly WIFT Chapter, sponsored by Lecturer Randi Barros, an award winning film editor and screenwriter. Working with Sarah Risley, Central Coast Film Society Board Member, the two look to establish a larger regional WIFT Chapter, "dedicated to providing community, networking, education, and resources to filmmakers on the central coast. We hope to nurture an environment where previously underrepresented filmmakers can succeed by developing access to a supportive community of peers and mentors."
In addition to networking, the inaugural chapter event will cover the milestones and steps required to establish the chapter as a non-profit in the state of California and solicit individuals to join our board of directors.
