Special Guest Speaker, Film Visual Effects Director
The community is welcome to an exciting opportunity to hear from Thomas J. Smith, award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor, presented by SBCC School of Extended Learning and fStop Foundation. Admission is free and open to any interested faculty, student or community member.
Thomas J. Smith, award-winning Visual Effects Supervisor, will provide numerous examples of great visual effects and how they were created. Participants will discover the tools of a visual effects supervisor and background and training needed to establish a career in the Film and Digital Media industry. Mr. Smith worked for Industrial Light & Magic and Cinesite, and has an impressive list of film credits including Erin Brockovich, Ocean’s Eleven, The Time Machine, Solaris, Argo, The Chronicles of Riddick, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Red Planet.
Created and taught by Terence Ford, founder of the fStop Foundation, Digital Photography in a Restorative Setting teaches Veterans new skills while providing support and connection to social services while helping each student become an active community participant.
