On Monday\, October 31\, 2022 (Halloween)\, the Inn is inviting the community\, visitors\, and Halloween trick-or-treaters – for which Ballard is infamous – to “Halloween at Ballard Inn\,” an open “haunted” house complete with family-friendly food and drinks\, and a sneak peek at the Inn’s newest developments. \nThe Ballard Inn’s doors will open at 4:30 PM on October 31\, with live music by the Chris Wabich Duo beginning at 5:00 PM. A Halloween walk-through of the Inn’s new design will include spooky and fun installations by the Inn’s creative director\, Whitney Able Melnick of Santa Ynez Valley-based firm\, R2PxDESIGN\, and a Haunted House set-up for kids of all ages. \nChris Wabich\, Grammy-nominated drummer and percussionist\, will join Ronnie Shelton\, dueling piano player\, partnering to perform appropriately-themed Halloween hits and upbeat jazz in one of the Inn’s outdoor areas. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, November 5\, more than 15 Ventura County farms\, ranches and agricultural organizations will invite the public to experience a day of free agricultural activities and tours during the 10th Annual Ventura County Farm Day. This year’s theme is “Meet All The Hands That Feed You.” \nVisitors can map out their day by viewing the Farm Day Trail Map at https://venturacountyfarmday.com/farm-tours. Each site offers tours and produce and other giveaways. Farm Day enables the public to meet the local farmers who grow the food we eat. Tour hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some require reservations. \n  \nParticipating in Farm Day include Reiter Affiliated Companies (berries)\, Driscoll’s (strawberries)\, Duda Farm Fresh Foods (row crops)\, Earthtrine Fam (organic vegetables)\, Alpacas At Windy Hills (Alpaca fleece)\, Blue Ridge Honey (raw honey)\, Good Farms Making a Difference (strawberries)\, Oxnard Historic Farm Park (antique farm equipment\, vegetable crops and talks about the agricultural heritage of the Oxnard Plains)\, Agromin (organic compost and mulch) and Petty Ranch (also the Farm Day hub with additional activities and displays). \nVentura County Farm Day is organized by the nonprofit Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG). This open discussion will outline how grazing helps reduce wildfire risk and supports environmentally sustainable habitats for native species. Sheep grazing was a primary factor in preventing devastation to communities surrounding the San Marcos Foothills Preserve during the Cave Fire that erupted in 2019. \nThis meeting is an opportunity to learn about how grazing impacts our community. Channel Islands Restoration and our partners at Cuyama Lamb will be present to answer any questions you have about our grazing program. To mark the occasion\, Cuyama Lamb will also bring several lambs. We will meet at the entrance of the San Marcos Foothills Preserve on Via Gaitero Road Wednesday\, December 21st at 2 pm to discuss this critical topic.
