SUMMARY:“Plant It Forward this Spring” – Shop for Native Plants at SB Botanic Garden Nursery
DESCRIPTION:As the end of California’s rainy season nears\, the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Nursery offers a weekend “Plant It Forward this Spring” event featuring a larger-than-usual number and variety of native plants for sale. A preview for Garden members only is held Friday\, March 3\, and public shopping is Saturday and Sunday\, March 4 and 5\, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. \n“Native plants do best if they get in the ground before the end of the rainy season\,” says Matt Straka\, the Garden’s retail manager. “The Nursery is open year-found\, but were ready to ‘spring forward’ with an even larger assortment of species that are ready to be planted right now including unique items not always available. During this special weekend\, we’ll restock almost constantly to ensure a wide variety is available no matter what time you visit.” \nLocated just inside the Garden’s gate\, the Nursery offers a wide selection of easy-to-grow native plants year-round. Garden members receive a 10% discount on every purchase. \nFor this event\, in addition to the expert Nursery sales staff who answer questions and make recommendations\, volunteer helpers are available to assist shoppers with transporting purchases to the parking lot. \nVisitors wanting to visit the Garden in addition to shopping must make an advance reservation at www.sbbotanicgarden.org/visit/hours-reservations. Visitors just shopping do not require Garden reservations; they can park in a “member” parking spot and check-in at the front kiosk to receive a shopper pass. \nOnline shopping is also available at shop.SBBotanicGarden.org. Shoppers choose from a list of available species and pick up their purchases in the Garden parking lot at a later date. Photos and lists of suggested groundcovers\, shrubs and trees\, plants for slope and erosion control\, lawn substitutes\, and easy to grow varieties can be found at https://sbbotanicgarden.org/grow/gardening-resources

SUMMARY:SOUL AND SOIL: Prenatal & Postnatal Gatherings
DESCRIPTION:Studies show that digging in the dirt can uplift your spirit. The friendly bacteria\, Mycobacterium vaccae\, present in the soil stimulates serotonin production\, acting as a natural antidepressant. We believe the lack of understanding around prenatal and postnatal care has resulted in isolated\, overlooked\, and overwhelmed mothers\, and that “postnatal” is not a stage\, but forever. The SLO Botanical Garden offers a safe space (and plenty of healthy soil) to help us connect to our bodies\, our littles\, the natural world\, and each other. Including snacks\, activities\, and care for little ones\, join us for grounding in your pregnancy and lifelong postpartum journey. Please bring water\, comfortable shoes\, sunscreen\, snacks and messy play clothes for your children\, and an optional blanket or mat if you’d like to sit on the floor. \nFor more information about registering for this program\, email millie@slobg.org\, or call (805) 541-1400 x302.

SUMMARY:Good Friday–The Stations of the Cross at First Baptist Church Paso Robles
DESCRIPTION:On Good Friday\, April 7th\, 2023\, First Baptist Church welcomes you back to our very popular event\, The Stations of the Cross. Beginning at 7am and running all the way through 8pm\, The Stations of the Cross is the opportunity to “walk in the footsteps of Jesus” as He journeyed to the cross. As you remember His journey at each of nine stations in this self-guided experience\, you will be invited to read Scripture (booklet guide provided)\, to reflect on what was happening to Jesus in that moment\, and to respond in personal\, silent prayer before moving on to the next station. As on that first Good Friday\, your journey and final station will end where Jesus’ did: at the cross. There you will be invited to take communion and to light a candle symbolizing the vigil between the dark hours of Jesus’ death on Friday and the bright light of His resurrection on Sunday! The nature of this event is best suited for ages 13+. Participants are welcome to spend as much time as they wish at each station\, and should prepare for anywhere from 20-30 minutes for the whole experience. Spanish translation of the Scripture booklet guide will also be available.

SUMMARY:Easter Sunday-More Than Conquerors
DESCRIPTION:This year at First Baptist Church\, we are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus in a way unlike anything we have ever done before–and you are invited to join us! On Easter Sunday\, April 9th\, 2023\, First Baptist Church will have two Sunday morning services: one at 8:30am and one at 11am. Choir and 27-piece orchestra. From the soaring brass to the tender winds to the rich strings to the powerful voices\, the goal of this musical is to bring the Easter story to life in a way that helps us feel the wonder of that first Easter morning. Pastor Michael Garman is preparing an important and encouraging message of hope and new life for all who attend. So invite a friend\, ask a neighbor\, bring a co-worker–all are welcome! Nursery and preschool care will be provided at both Easter Sunday services. \nFor more information about these special events\, visit our website: fbcpaso.org\, follow us on instagram @firstbaptistpaso\, or call the church office at (805) 238-4419.
