SUMMARY:Charley Crockett with special guest Cassandra Lewis
DESCRIPTION:Charley Crockett returns to the Arlington Theatre with special guest Cassandra Lewis on Friday\, October 6th\, 8:00pm. Tickets available at https://www.axs.com/events/492169/charley-crockett-tickets. \nTapped by Garden & Gun as an artist “shaping up to be one of country music’s most prolific torchbearers\,” a “must-see live performer” by Rolling Stone\, and a “force to be reckoned with” by CMT\, Charley Crockett crafts his singular “Gulf & Western” sound — described as “very 21st century and very vintage” by NPR Music — by synthesizing country\, blues\, soul\, Cajun\, R&B and other pieces of American Roots music. And when his voice comes out of your speakers\, there is no confusing him for any other artist. As the Wall Street Journal writes\, “Mr. Crockett’s unique vocal style is one third Ernest Tubb honky-tonk with clipped-word diction\, one third Bill Withers low-key\, soulful crooning\, and one third jazzy French Quarter second-line swagger.” \n  \nIn 2022 Charley Crockett brought The Man From Waco tour to a long list of sold-out venues across the U.S and sold out his European tour in the same year. Crockett also made waves throughout the year with a series of noteworthy media appearances including CBS Mornings\, CBS “Saturday Sessions” and Jimmy Kimmel Live! \n  \nAbout Cassandra Lewis: Based in Nashville\, singer/songwriter Cassandra Lewis offers a cosmic blend of classic country\, Americana\, and psychedelic soul on her debut albumAlways\, All Ways. She’ll call you into her journey of self-discovery\, addiction\, love affairs\, and a fever dream of in-betweens. Think Dolly Parton\, Patsy Cline\, and Etta Woods at Woodstock’69\, then sprinkle it with something otherworldly. Lewis says\,“When people ask\, I just tell them I create Cosmic Americana. Dolly Parton on acid. Janis Joplin on Jesus. I think people are starting to get what that means. I’ve always been deeply rooted in classic country western\, the blues\, soul\, and psychedelic rock.”Her massive voice\, real talk\, and wild storyteller’s wit will leave you feeling raw and reeling in the dreamiest way.Always\, All Ways peaked #1 on the KEXP (Seattle) Americana radio chart.Lewis will be performing at Bumbershoot\, BeachLife Ranch\, and more in 2023. Look for her Dave Cobb-produced Low Country Sound/Elektra debut in early 2024.

SUMMARY:ZZ Top
DESCRIPTION:Goldenvoice presents ZZ Top on their Raw Whiskey Tour. \n  \nZZ TOP a.k.a. “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas\,” lay undisputed claim to being the longest running major rock band with original personnel intact and\, in 2004\, the Texas trio was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Of course\, there are only three of them – Billy F Gibbons\, Dusty Hill\, Frank Beard — but it’s still a remarkable achievement that they’re still very much together after almost 45 years of rock\, blues\, and boogie on the road and in the studio. “Yeah\,” says Billy\, guitarist extraordinaire\, “we’re the same three guys\, bashing out the same three chords.” With the release of each of their albums the band has explored new ground in terms of both their sonic approach and the material they’ve recorded. ZZ TOP is the same but always changing.

SUMMARY:The Redoubtable Disc Record – And Why the Format Refuses to Die
DESCRIPTION:Despite the way the Internet connects us with vast quantities of music\, 43% of all albums sold in the U.S. last year were vinyl LPS. Why is this? Why is it that\, today\, the disc record is the only physical audio format with increasing sales? \nA panel of industry and audio experts explores the 130- year history of the disc record and explains why – despite frequent predictions of its demise- the format’s popularity continues to grow. Intertwined with their presentations are demonstrations of period phonographs and recordings that reflect the changing musical tastes and technology since the disc first appeared in the 1890s. \nPanelists\nRichard Martin – Co-owner\, Producer\, Engineer\, Researcher/Writer\, Archeophone\, Records\nNick Bergh – Sound Restoration Expert and Found\, Endpoint Audio Labs\, Inc.\nPatrick Feaster – Sound Media Historian: Lead Researcher\, First Sounds Initiative \nModerator\nYuri Shimoda – Supervisor of Preservation Services\, Warner Bros. Discovery \nPresented by the UCSB Library as part of the Early Recordings Initiative (ERI). DESCRIPTION:The Valencia Baryton Project was founded in Valencia\, Spain with the vision of performing the nearly 160 works written by Franz Joseph Haydn as well as compositions by other composers\, both modern and classical.
