DESCRIPTION:If you have a passion for art and are interested in serving the community\, the SBMA Docent Program is a rewarding and supportive environment to learn and have fun. \nVolunteer docents engage with visitors of all ages through guided tours to make works of art accessible to everyone. An art background is not required. Diverse applicants with an interest in learning about art\, working with students\, and facilitating positive Museum experiences for visitors are encouraged to apply. In addition to touring\, docents enjoy an extensive program of continuing education provided by curators and local experts. DESCRIPTION:After a three-year hiatus due to challenges brought on by the pandemic\, the 37th Annual California Strawberry Festival will take place Saturday and Sunday\, May 20-21. For the first time\, the event will be held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds (10 W. Harbor Blvd.\, Ventura\, CA 93001). Festivalgoers can indulge in strawberry treats from over 50 food and beverage booths. The festival features artists and crafters\, a Ninja Nation obstacle course\, live entertainment on two stages\, Strawberryland for kids and “build-your-own” strawberry shortcake. \nAn estimated 1.5 million strawberries will be consumed over the two-day festival. Vine-ripened strawberries grown in the Oxnard Plain are considered by many to be the juiciest strawberries in the world. Since its inception\, the nonprofit California Strawberry Festival has donated over $5 million to Southern California charitable organizations. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.\, both days. Admission is $15\, active military with ID and family and seniors 62 and over\, $10\, youth ages 5 to 12\, $8\, children 4 and under\, free. Limited parking onsite\, Free shuttles. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy recently declared mental health as “the defining public health crisis of our time.” Mental Wellness Center has been at the forefront of advancing mental wellness in Santa Barbara for seventy-five years\, and has purposefully scheduled its 27th annual hallmark arts festival in May\, to coincide with the nationwide effort. \nReimagined going forward as “Artful Minds\,” the Arts Faire takes place on Saturday\, May 20\, from 11 am – 3 pm on the beachfront opposite Chase Palm Park\, and showcases the talents of approximately 60 local artists living with mental illness\, across a variety of visual and craft mediums which include painting\, drawing\, jewelry and sculpture. Many discover their talents for the first time as participants in Mental Wellness Center’s Fellowship Club\, where peer educators and an art specialist help them explore their emotions through self-expression.

Through spontaneity\, lean detailed stories\, heart-centered sharing\, and deep present listening- we can all receive the medicine of council.  \nThis is a donation-based event at Pura Luna Apothecary in Santa Barbara.
